This acclaimed, BAFTA-winning six-part drama about the illegal drugs trade is a real eye-opener and was so good that director Steven Soderbergh made a film based on it.

We've seen countless depictions of addiction onscreen but this goes to the source, digging deep into the global trade and what drives it, and what makes it so difficult to control or stop. Bill Paterson stars as a British politician attempting to stop heroin reaching our soil from Pakistan - and we also meet the opium poppy grower in that country who is as much a victim as the addicts on the street. Hard-hitting, powerful stuff. (Six episodes)
