Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes explores class and society above and below deck in a four-part drama set aboard the world's most famous sinking ship. That approach had already worked very successfully in the 1997 blockbuster movie with Leonardo DiCaprio's low-class Jack winning the heart of Kate Winslet's top-class Rose.
Here the detail is fleshed out via flashbacks of the lives of characters before they board, some of whom are historical figures, including the ship's designers and its captain, as well as a wealthy young suffragette (Magnum PI's Perdita Weeks), engineers and steerage passengers. (Four episodes)
