Based on the bestselling Nora Sand book franchise by Lone Theils, all six episodes of The Pushover are now available to watch for free.

The show's IMDb synopsis reads: 'This new Danish thriller kicks off with a body in a swimming pool in a wealthy suburb.

'The death immediately draws the attention of Chief Inspector Morten Stark, who begins the official police investigation into what looks like a murder.

'But he's not the only one asking questions. Copenhagen journalist Nora Sand starts her own...'

The story is set in Denmark's North Zealand region, which is also known as the Danish Riveria, and is famed for its old-fashioned boats and sandy dunes.

The series is actually the second to feature Lorna Sand, and if you're a fan of the books, you're very much in luck as the first, Fatal Crossing, is also available to stream on Channel 4.

Author Lone Theils said of the adaptation: 'I am incredibly happy and proud that [production company] Shuuto is now shooting the second season from the Nora Sand universe.

'It has been a magical experience to see my character come to life on the screen.

'I am unspeakably happy that Nora has touched so many readers and viewers alike.'

The thriller has had a mixed reception on IMDb, where it is rated 5.5 out of 10.

However, the most recent and most popular reviews of the first episode give the show a more impressive rating of 6.9 out of 10.

The series' six episodes are all around 40 minutes long and are named to reflect their content - The Murder, The Confession, The Reconstruction, The Interview, The Connection and the bizarre finale entitled The House.

One viewer who gave the show 8 out of 10 described the show as an example of 'classic Scandi noir.'

One viewer who gave the show 8 out of ten described the show as an example of 'classic Scandi noir

They wrote: 'This is an intelligent and quietly gripping crime drama, with a strong focus on complex, believable characters as well as a solid and carefully constructed plot.

'The pacing is confident and restrained, allowing the story to unfold naturally. Classic Nordic noir at its best, and a must for anyone who truly enjoys high-quality Scandinavian drama.'

A more modest five out of ten review described the series as a 'slow burn story of police incompetence'.

It read: 'I like Scandi crime series, but this one is very slow and paints the picture that the police force is so incompetent- which you have to argue is just not what would happen in real life!'

The viewer suggested: 'Just disappointed that the story could not have been more believable and captivating if it had more challenge between the characters - up the tension and get the viewer engaged - rather than watching in the failed hope that finally it would give you the punch in the face it needed to.'

The Pushover is available to stream for free on Channel 4.
