Winterwatch viewers fumed 'I'm off!' following a segment on the BBC nature show where host Chris Packham swiped at 'annoying' Alan Carr live on air.
The annual nature documentary returned to BBC Two on Tuesday (January 20), presented by Chris, Michaela Strachan and Iolo Williams.
They were broadcasting from the stunning Mount Stewart Estate, on the shores of Strangford Lough in County Down, Northern Ireland.
Michaela and Iolo referenced The Traitors, which is currently airing its fourth series, for a new segment called Nature's Traitors.
The pair wore green cloaks and along with Chris - who revealed he has never seen the programme - gave examples of a 'Traitor' in the natural world.
Iolo chose a gull, which Michaela said would be similar to Alan Carr's persona on Celebrity Traitors.
Winterwatch returned to BBC Two last night - but not all viewers were happy with references to The Traitors
Presenter Chris Packham (pictured) took a cheeky swipe at comedian and Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr
Claudia Winkleman selected Alan as a Traitor, along with Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns, but only he made it all the way to the end
She elaborated: 'If that was a Celebrity Traitor, it would be Alan Carr, I think. It would be bold, sassy and noisy.'
To which Chris quipped: 'And quite annoying.'
Michaela replied: 'I don't think you should say that', before then adding: 'Sorry, Alan.'
As viewers will recall, Alan participated in and won the first-ever celebrity edition of The Traitors in the UK.
Claudia Winkleman selected him as a Traitor, along with Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns, but only Alan made it all the way to the end.
Writing on X, some viewers shared their disapproval of The Traitors tie-in during the episode.
One penned: 'This is a stupid feature. I couldn't give a toss about the Traitors, stop going on about it.'
Another added: '#Winterwatch I'm with Chris, don't care about the Traitors program and thought I'd get away from it watching Winter watch.'
A third chimed in: 'Winterwatch is on BBC2 if that helps. It features Chris Packham being curmudgeonly about The Traitors and sounding increasingly like Bob Fleming.'
A fourth remarked: 'Sick of the Traitors references I'm off. #winterwatch.'
Fans took a dim view of The Traitors-themed skit, with some even switching off mid-episode
Others took a different view however, as viewer commented: 'Great shout #winterwatch to do nature's traitors. Human #TheTraitors, you had better watch out! Good, lighthearted piece, yet feeling educated.'
Series four of The Traitors launched on New Year's Day, with plenty of exciting twists and turns for viewers.
Elsewhere, the BBC previously addressed choosing Mount Stewart Estate as base of operations for the latest series of Winterwatch.
They revealed: 'Winterwatch is ready to showcase it like never before. Its mild, microclimate, ancient woodlands, rich wetlands and proximity to the beautiful Strangford Lough create the perfect stage for a winter spectacular.
'Expect a dazzling cast of species and a host of seasonal behaviours as animals power through the toughest months of the year.
'Whether under crisp frosts or storm-laden skies, Mount Stewart teems with life.'
Winterwatch continues Wednesday on BBC Two and is available to stream on iPlayer
