Eagle-eyed The Traitors fans have 'worked out the next star to be murdered' after spotting a patten among the Faithfuls.

The BBC One competition has so far seen seven contestants banished, and five more murdered, as the series inches closer to the final next Friday.

Now, viewers are convinced they have worked out who is 'doomed' to be the next victim of Traitors Stephen and Rachel, after spotting them in the shower.

Faithful Matthew was seen lathering up in his room in a cut-scene during the episode on Thursday night, but fans think this could spell his fate being sealed.

Avid viewers have noted that in the scenes showing the contestants in their bedrooms while the Traitors discuss who to kill, the usually hunky male in the shower is next to be waving goodbye.

It follows Celebrity Traitors' Tom Daley being shown in the shower during the first season of the spin-off last November, before he became the second person to leave the show.

He was shown getting soapy under the water, leaving fans at home going wild over his physique, displaying his chiselled abs and Olympic rings tattoo.

Laying out the reasons to kill off the gold medallist, Traitor Jonathan Ross said: 'He's super smart, lots of people will eventually get on to us and maybe we can steer the blame towards another Faithful.'

And his intelligence ended up sealing his fate, with Tom then seen reading the note informing him that he'd been murdered.

The athlete couldn't hide his disappointment, saying: 'Oh dear. Look at that. Well that didn't take long did it? I am gutted to be leaving the game.

'I think I was murdered because people will see me as a threat and they think I'll weasel them out eventually. Now I guess I'll go and do one final dive into my grave.'

He followed in the footsteps of season three contestant Freddie Fraser, who was a Faithful at the start of the game before being recruited by Charlotte Chilton.

The cast had already set their sights on a man having been recruited as a Traitor and, after his steamy shower scene, he was banished from the Castle.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, viewers of the new series speculated Matthew would therefore be next to go thanks to his on-screen wash.

One penned: 'We’ve been given the shower scene in for Matthew. He’s being murdered tonight and I won’t be convinced otherwise.'

Another chimed in to agree: 'Uh oh, the doomed shower shot. I fear Matty is going to die before becoming a Traitor,' as a third penned: 'Matthew so desperate to become a Traitor has no chance now.'

'FINALLY a shower shot,' someone else wrote, as a fifth added: 'Showing Matthew in the shower was absolutely unnecessary … but absolutely welcome.'

It comes after The Traitors fans were left cringing at Matty's offer to be 'seduced' by Stephen and Rachel as they claimed he has 'signed his own death certificate'.

Matty stunned viewers last week when he asked Traitors Rachel and Stephen who they were planning on murdering - and offered them a deal when they said Jessie.

He said: 'I suspect Claudia will offer you the opportunity to seduce the next time you meet. I want you to turn that down and murder Jessie. And then the next time you seduce, you can seduce me. So my question is, do we have a deal?'

The question was left on a cliff hanger, but as Wednesday's episode began the Traitors discussed recruiting him and then throwing him under the bus, before they replied back to Matty: 'You have a deal.'

Matty seemed delighted to read the note, saying: 'I've wanted to be a Traitor since the beginning. Keep my cloak warm.'

But his confidence didn't go down well with viewers, who said they had the 'ick' and thought his plan would backfire.

They wrote: 'Matthew thinking he has it all sewn up,' as another chimed in: 'How Matthew felt saying "keep my cloak warm"...'

'I called it from the beginning that they’ll recruit Matthew then throw him under the bus, surely he can’t be this stupid,' a third wrote.

'Little does Matthew know he just signed his death warrant,' someone else added, as a fourth penned: 'Matthew I’ve got the ick.'

During Friday's episode, Matty, Harriet Tyce and Rachel won the opportunity to ask the Traitors questions, but, of course, Rachel would be answering the questions rather than asking them.

Matthew entered Ardross Castle Church, with the Traitors hidden in a wooden confession box.

He first asked who they plan to kill next and why, to which they wrote down Jessie Roux's name and passed the paper through a letterbox to keep their identities a secret.

After reading the response, he boldly said: 'Here's what I want to happen. I'm taking a massive risk here, and I want to know that there is some trust.

After turning on his fellow Faithful, Matthew told the camera: 'I'm not a monster; I don't want Jessie to die. But I came here to play the game, and that is what I'm going to do.'

Ahead of Wednesday's episode, his co-star Jessie took a swipe at him after he tried to strike a deal to have her murdered.

Addressing the murder plot ahead of Wednesday's episode, Jessie took to Instagram to share a very unbothered clip of her dancing.

It was captioned: 'When people are worried about Matt's deal but you're just enjoying the missions.'

She added in the post's caption: 'Sorry I'm busy, please leave a message.'

Showing the pair are not feuding, Matty commented 'LYSM,' to which Jessie replied: 'ILYYY.'

The Traitors airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer
