Kim Kardashian closed her brief return to Paris on a graceful note on the latest episode of The Kardashians as she shockingly forgave one of the men who had been involved in a robbery in which she was tied up and held at gunpoint.
The 45-year-old reality star — who claimed in the same episode that her ex-husband Kanye West accused her of faking the robbery — had returned to France to testify in the trial in hopes of convicting the men, but she was unexpectedly moved by the 'noble' move one of the robbers made to apologize to her.
In the seventh episode of the seventh season, which was completely devoted to her tense trip to Paris, Kim revealed that Aomar Ait Khedache, 69, had sent her a letter in which he apologized for the heist.
However, Khedache — who was one of only two surviving robbers who admitted guilt in court — sent the letter to her all the way back in 2017, just a year after the robbery, but Kim admitted that she never read the note until a judge read it aloud in court for her.
'I think that's very sweet,' she said of the sentiments, adding that it was 'very noble' of Khedache to write the apology.
Kim said she was 'hysterically crying' as she heard the apology, to the point that she had to be given tissues.
Kim Kardashian, 45, shockingly forgave one of the men who tied her up and robbed her at gunpoint after reading an apology note he wrote her back in 2017 on the latest episode of the Kardashians
Aomar Ait Khedache, 69, who was one of only two surviving robbers who admitted guilt in court, had sent her a letter in which he apologized for the heist in 2017, but Kim admitted that she never read the note until a judge read it aloud in court for her
'Tears were just, like, rolling down my face,' she said.
In a confessional, Kim read the note for the audience.
Khedache wrote that, after he saw 'the emotion and psychological damage I inflicted on you, I have decided to write.'
He wrote that it wasn't to 'get any kind of leniency' from Kim or the court, and he said that he admitted to having participated in the robbery.
'I come to you as a human being and want to tell you how much I regret what I did. It destroyed me to see you in tears,' Kim read. 'I am very sorry for the suffering I made you endure. You, your family, and your children.
'Of course, the past cannot be undone, but I hope this letter can help you forget bit by bit the trauma I made you suffer,' Khedache added, before signing off, 'With my most sincere apologies.'
Kim wasn't completely surprised that he was the one to most fully attempt to atone for the crime, as she remembered him being more compassionate to her than the rest of the men.
Kim recalled that after she was tied up and blinded, Khedache kept getting close to her and whispering, 'Just shh, you OK [sic],' in English so that she could understand him.

She said she felt more 'sympathy' for him than the others because he had tried to help her stay calm throughout the ordeal, which made her afraid that she would be killed.
While she forgave Khedache, she thought it was 'tasteless' that one of the other robbers, 71-year-old Yunice Abbas, had written a tell-all book about the robbery.
Still, she said that she had forgiven all of the men at the end of the trial.
Simone Harouche, Kim's childhood friend who had been in the apartment with her during the robbery, added in a confessional that Kim's focus on second chances through her work with prison inmates made it logical that she would forgive the men, but she admitted it's still hard to do so 'when you're the victim.'
Still, Kim's belief in 'accountability, growth and rehabilitation' meant that she would always be 'a forgiver.'
The episode opened with a dramatic dive into the robbery as Kim, Simone and Kris relieved it through interviews and archival footage
Kim admitted the robbery left her with years of trauma due to her fear that the burglars would 'rape' or 'murder' her during the incident.
One of the later interviews with one of the bandits, Yunice Abbas, who was asked if he felt guilty about having robbed Kim.

Kim traveled back to Paris to testify in the trial nine years later, with her mother Kris Jenner at her side, as well as her childhood friend Simone Harouche, who had been in the apartment with her during the robbery
'Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that,' he explained coldly. 'Guilty? No, I don't care.'
Surprisingly, he didn't dispute that the robbery could have left Kim with mental scars for years to come.
'You don't come out of it unscathed,' he continued. 'We didn't expect this. Of course, she must have been traumatized. I don't doubt it.'
Back in the present day, Kim stepped into a confessional interview and declared, 'In 2016, my life changed forever.'
She was seen arriving in Paris nine years later with her mother Kris Jenner at her side, as well as her childhood friend and 'lifer,' Simone, who was in the Paris apartment while Kim was being robbed, though the robbers were never alerted to her presence.
While Kim and her mother drove in from the airport, the Skims found declared, 'I just want to get this over with. I want to go in, do what I do, tell my story, and that’s it.'
She went on to explain that there would be five accused people in court when she was testifying, five who had been charged with perpetrating the heist and five others who were accused of being accessories to the robbery.
As for why the trial was only now happening nearly a decade after the robbery, Kim explained that the first five years had been spent collecting evidence, but the process was significantly slowed down, first by the coronavirus pandemic, and then by the summer Olympics held in Paris in 2024.
The beginning of the episode was devoted to a chilling recreation of the night of the robbery, told via new interviews and archival footage
Kim explained the trial was only happen almost a decade after the 2016 robbery because it took five years to investigate, then the coronavirus pandemic and the Paris Olympics delayed it further
Kim had gone to Paris Fashion Week with her mother, sister Kourtney (pictured in front), as well as Kendall, who was walking runways, and her then-assistant Stephanie Shepherd
'I'm just happy that we're finally here,' Kim said, adding that she felt good despite all the delays.
In another flashback on the lead-up to the robbery, Kim explained that she had been in Paris with her mother and her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, as well as her friend Simone and her then-assistant Stephanie Shepherd, whom she would fire in the year following the robbery.
The group had just attended the Givenchy runway show as part of Paris Fashion Week, and several of the women decided to stay out to go to a club, including Kourtney, Kendall and Stephanie, leaving Kim and Simone to go back to the apartment they were staying at.
Crucially, Kim was left without any security detail. Kourtney explained that they opted to come with her and Kendall to the club around 1 a.m. because Kim was staying in, and the apartment already had some security features, including a doorman and a gated entrance.
As footage of Kim's sisters standing in an elevator and waving goodbye in slow motion played, she explained that she was 'just closing her computer' around 2 or 3 a.m. after staying up to do some work when she heard people entering the residence.
Kim said she at first thought it was just Kourtney or Stephanie returning.
Simone, who was closer to the entrance on the first floor, realized something was amiss first, as she heard a group of men coming in.
She said in a confessional interview that she at first thought she might have been dreaming things, but when she got up and heard the men speaking through the door, leading her to think something had gone horribly wrong.
Footage showed Kourtney and Kendall waving goodbye in an elevator as they left to go to a club around 1 a.m., while Kim and Simone stayed at their Paris apartment. They were left without a security detail, which followed Kourtney and Kendall
Simone said she was sleeping downstairs when men came bustling in to the apartment. She thought it was a dream until she got up and heard their voices and realized something was wrong
Kim recalled 'guys barging in who were in police uniforms,' but she realized something sinister was afoot when she saw the concierge, who was handcuffed and being pulled into the room with a gun trained on him
Kim recalled 'guys barging in who were in police uniforms,' which the robbers had used to disguise themselves to gain entrance. However, she realized something sinister was afoot when she saw the concierge, who was handcuffed and being pulled into the room with a gun trained on him.
Simone jumped in to add that she finally knew it was no dream when she heard a bloodcurdling scream upstairs that had to be from Kim.
Kim recalled being overcome with an intense fear for her own mortality then, and she kept asking 'Are we gonna die?' to the concierge.
‘My instant reaction was, "I have babies, just please, let me go. Ididn’t see anything, they can take whatever they want, just please don’t kill me,"' she said as she relived the terror.
Meanwhile, Simone recalled wondering if the whole hotel had been taken over by the men, though in reality it was only the large unit that she and Kim were in.
She imagined the worst from behind her door downstairs, including that the men could be 'violating' her friend. Simone added that she feared that she would be next for the same fate.
The robbers didn't give Kim any reason to think that she would be spared from the rape and murder that she feared when they tied her up, using zip ties on her hands and feet and then duct taping over them while she was still lying on the bed where they had surprised her.
Kim then realized that they likely weren't going to rape her after they had tied her up, but surprisingly that only made her fear for her life more, as she thought they instead intended to kill her after they put tape over her face to blind her.

Kim said the robbers zip tied her hands and feet, then covered them with duct tape. She feared they would rape her, then after they put tape over her face, she thought they instead intended to kill her
While she was tied up on the bed, they stole her jewelry, including her $4M engagement ring. After getting the loot, the robbers left Kim in the bathroom and rode away on bikes
While downstairs and unseen by the robbers, Simone texted Kourtney for help. Kourtney didn't know the local 911 equivalent, so she called Kris for help before the police were called
She only realized that it was a robbery when one of the men called out 'ring, ring,' then shouted with joy once he found her $4 million engagement ring, followed by the jewelry box where she kept most of her precious items.
While Kim was incapacitated, Simone said that her first move was to text Kourtney, as she didn't know the French equivalent of 911.
Kourtney — who admitted that she also didn't know the local emergency number — then raced to the apartment with Kendall and called her mother, who presumably got the police involved.
In a confessional, Kourtney revealed that prior to the robbery, she and her sisters had vowed that if they were ever robbed, they would say, 'Just take whatever you want,' in hopes of making it out of the confrontation alive.
Back in the apartment, the 'grandpa robbers' picked Kim up off the bed after they had snatched her valuables and carried her into the bathroom before fleeing on bikes with bags of her jewels, which was shown in CCTV footage.
Kim said she was able to get out of her hand zip ties, which were loose, and she was then able to hobble over to the stairs, where she called out for Simone, who she knew had been there the whole time.
Simone said she rushed out of her room, but she admitted that she feared Kim had been raped by the men as soon as she saw her.
She said Kim was completely disheveled and still had tape on her legs, leading her to imagine that she had been 'violated.'
Simone said she thought the robbers had 'violated' Kim when she saw Kim had hobbled over to the stairs with tape still on her legs
Kim then called Kourtney, frantically screaming 'Help me!' at the top of her lungs. Kourtney said she fell to her knees in shock, then called Kris, who got in a car and rushed to the apartment
Simone teared up in the present as she recalled thinking — falsely — that all it would take for her to feel safe again was to get back to the US as soon as possible
Kim then called Kourtney, frantically screaming 'Help me!' at the top of her lungs.
Kourtney said she fell to her knees in shock after hearing her sister's distress, and Kris, whom she had been on the phone with, got in the car and rushed to meet them.
While Kourtney and Kris were en route, the police arrived, but Kim admitted that she didn't initially feel any relief, as the robbers had been dressed as police when they broke in.
In the present day, Simone began to tear up as she recalled trying to calm herself after the raid and thinking that everything would be all better if she could just get home to the US and away from the robbery.
While sitting with Kim in a hotel room, Kris admitted that she felt and emotional 'shutdown' in her brain after the robbery as she struggled to comprehend what her daughter had gone through.
'What does it feel like to feel like you're gonna die?' she asked Kim somberly.
'You're just in sheer, sheer panic that you're gonna die,' Kim recalled, before adding that she managed to find a modicum of peace in the moment by saying a prayer and hoping that everything would turn out all right.
'What a terrifying thing to go through, when you think you're not going to see your children again,' Kris said.
Kris got emotional while talking about the robbery and had a brain 'shutdown' trying to imagine what Kim felt. 'What does it feel like to feel like you're gonna die?' she asked her daughter
Kim added that she never felt unsafe before the robbery, which changed her life
Back in Paris, Kim and Kris were increasingly distressed as paparazzi on motorcycles boxed their car in on multiple sides. 'It's starting to feel really unsafe,' Kris said, and she wondered aloud if no one had learned anything from the death of Princess Diana
As the look back on the robbery wound down, Kim mused about how she 'never felt unsafe' before the incident. Back then, she would walk about the city in her sweats without any security following because she didn't fear for her safety.
She said the robbery had completely changed the way that she lives and transformed her requirements to sleep comfortably at night.
The episode cut back to Kim and Kris driving into Paris as they prepared for her testimony, but they were barraged by paparazzi on motorcycles, at first in the lane to the right, but then as traffic slowed the photographers multiplied and covered nearly every side of their car, despite them having a police escort to ensure their safety.
'It's starting to feel really unsafe,' Kris said worriedly, and she wondered aloud if no one had learned anything from the death of Princess Diana.
Ahead of her testimony, Kim had to have a fitting to plan out her outfit for court, but she also had to cram in some studying for the bar exam.
'Got a hundred percent on this quiz!' she said triumphantly, even though it was later revealed that she had failed the bar.
While Kim was trying on outfits, Simone explained how she and Kim became friends.
When they were around 12, Simone's mother — who was friends with Kris' good pal Faye Resnick — had taken her to Kris' house, and the future momager told her she had a daughter her age that she might like to meet.
While Kim was getting ready for the trial, Simone shared how the two became lifelong friends after her mother's friend Faye Resnick took her to Kris' house. Kris suggested the 12-year-old meet her daughter Kim, and the rest was history
At a fitting for her suit, Kim showed Simone and Kris and golden LEGO treasure chest, which her daughter North gave her when she was three. The robbers took it but tossed it aside when they saw it was worthless
Kris ushered her up to Kim's room to wait for an hour or so before she returned, and Simone recalled being shocked by 'how much professional makeup Kim had' in her bedroom, despite being around the same age as her.
But once Kim arrived, the two hit if off immediately and became lifelong friends.
When Simone — who is a stylist — arrived at the fitting, Kim complained to her that the prosecutors had requested that she dress conservatively — including not wearing any jewelry, which rubbed her the wrong way.
Kris got misty-eyed as she said she hoped testifying would give Kim and Simone closure.
'You go back to that call, of you in the bushes calling me,' Kris began, but Kim started to laugh at the idea of her standing in the bushes outside of the Paris apartment.
Simone added that Kim had said they should jump out of the window if the robbers came back. It was only from the second floor, but they still could have injured themselves by jumping down to the concrete sidewalk.
Then Kim pulled out a small golden plastic toy, which she revealed was a LEGO treasure box that her daughter North West had given her when she was around three before her 2016 trip to Paris.
The little girl had been frightened by news of the Islamist terrorist group ISIS at the time, so she gave the box as a good-luck charm for her mother.
In a funny moment, Kris stood behind Kim as she was being fitted and said, 'You look so great from behind. 'I know you've never heard that before, but I thought as your mother, I can say it,' she joked
Simone said she found the term 'grandpa robbers' offensive, because it downplayed how frightening the experience was. The men had guns, making their age less important, and they were more youthful looking nearly a decade earlier
Simone admitted she 'cried a lot' as she updated Kris and Kim on her testimony early in the morning on the day Kim was also scheduled to go to court
Kim revealed that the toy was in the Louis Vuitton jewelry box that the robbers took, but they had thrown it out when they realized it was worthless.
'When they took all my stuff, that was they only thing they left,' Kim said.
In a funny moment, Kris stood behind Kim as she was being fitted and said, 'You look so great from behind.
'I know you've never heard that before, but I thought as your mother, I can say it,' she joked.
Then the women turned to looking at the men who had robbed Kim.
Simone admitted that she found the term 'grandpa robbers' to be offensive, as she thought it minimized their strength and intensity, instead making them seem weak or feeble.
Kim said she never thought the men were 'less dangerous' because of their age.
'These men had guns. They were bigger guys,' she said, adding that, 'When someone barges into your room with a gun to your head and a mask over your face,' one doesn't automatically assume that they are elderly.
Kim said it wasn't fair to expect her pal to have stopped the robbery, before joking that Simone was so 'frantic' that she would have freaked out the robbers and made them kill them
Kim was defiant in the face of a request from prosecutors that she dress conservatively and not wear diamonds or jewelry to court
The request was likely just to help secure convictions, but Kim said it was more important to 'take back my power' than to 'respect the court'
She added that some of the men appeared to have aged rapidly in the past decade, and they were much fitter and more youthful looking at the time of the robbery.
Later, Simone dropped by to see Kim and Kris after testifying in the morning.
'I cried a lot,' she admitted, after warning Kim that the courthouse would be 'really hot.'
In a confessional, Kim defended Simone against claims that came up in court that she could have done something to interrupt the robbery or prevent it.
'I can’t believe that anyone would even think that it was her responsibility to come up' to the room, Kim said.
'It happened the way it was supposed to, ladies,' Kris reassured them.
Kim made a shocking joke then, saying that Simone is such a 'frantic' person that 'she would have had us killed, seriously.'
She said the robbers would have been 'so defensive' if they heard someone downstairs, and she said staying out of sight was the 'best decision she ever made.'
'Do you really think we should wear all the diamonds?' asked Kris, but Kim wouldn't be dissuaded
She even wore a 22-carat diamond ring that she bought to replace her stolen $4M engagement ring
She added that she wanted to 'taunt those losers' with her gleaming diamonds
Cameras weren't allowed in the courtroom, so Kim's testimony couldn't be shown, but it ended up being far worse than Simone's short session, as court didn't adjourn for six hours after she began testifying
After selecting an elegant plunging black suit for her court attire, Kim struggled with the prosecutors' request to not wear jewelry.
Although the advice was likely given solely in the interest of securing a conviction against the men who robbed her, Kim said it was more important to 'take back my power' than to 'respect the court.'
She put on an enormous 22-carat diamond ring, which she said she bought to replace her $4 million engagement ring that had been stolen in the robbery.
'Do you really think we should wear all the diamonds,' said her ever-practical mother.
Kim said she didn't think it was disrespectful to the court, and she admitted that the robbers had already led her to go years without wearing diamonds in public out of fears of another attack.
She added that she wanted to 'taunt those losers' with her gleaming diamonds.
As Kim and Kris rode to the courthouse, Khloé looked back in a confessional on how people, most notably Howard Stern, had 'questioned' if the robbery had even happened or if it was staged for Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Back in Paris, Kim teared up as she claimed that her ex-husband Kanye West accused her of staging the robbery.
She was astounded that the men who had tied her up were just feet away from her in the courtroom

After describing the public figure and media outlets who had doubted her story, Kim claimed, 'Even my ex-husband had said, "'And you faked your robbery for a TV Show"'; pictured together in 2020 in Beverly Hills
After describing the public figure and media outlets who had doubted her story, Kim claimed, 'Even my ex-husband had said, "'And you faked your robbery for a TV Show."'
Kim added that he made the claim 'in front of all these people,' which she said made it like 'a knife to my heart.'
Kim's voice began to crack and her eyes welled up with tears as she said, 'Just to think that someone wouldn't believe you that's so close to you, that should know you, that should know how much that affected your life... It just really bothered me [because] you don't know who I am.'
'So to finally be able to go to trial and face these people and hear their accounts and apologies, I'm like, "See guys, it was real."
'I'm happy it's over,' a tearful Kim added.
Kanye, who was married to Kim at the time of the October 2016 robbery, wasn't by her side because he was back in New York for a performance.
But after learning of her ordeal, he cut the show short and told the audience he had to leave immediately due to a 'family emergency.'

An exhausted-looking Kim arrived at her hotel room and shared that sentencing was still two weeks away as she collapsed on a sofa in front of a room service tray covered in pasta and fruits that she quickly began munching on

She added that Kim 'wanted to take her power back, and so that's exactly what she did.'

Back in the US, Khloé admitted that 'Kim's focus on material things prior to the robbery was at an all-time high.' 'I love the version that she is now,' Khloé added

Two weeks later, Kim was back home when the verdict was announced. She called up Simone and Kris on FaceTime and read out the decision from her computer one by one.
All but two of the men and one woman charged as their accomplice were found guilty, including the man who had apologized and the robber who wrote about book about the ordeal.
Kim noted that she was happy that one of the men who was charged was found not guilty of being an accomplice. She said he had told the robbers — some of whom were his friends — that his brother was driving her in Paris, but she believed his claim that he had no idea that they planned to use that information to rob her.
'I feel like crying, but I don't know why I feel like crying,' Kris said after hearing the news from her daughter. She added that it was 'so satisfying' and 'was a long time coming.'
In a text card, The Kardashians noted that all were sentenced to 3–8 years, but none would return to prison due to time served.
