Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns has revealed the 'real reason' she was banished during the final roundtable of the series.

The singer was the last woman standing in the finale episode that aired on Thursday night, as she and fellow Traitor Alan Carr battled it out to not be uncovered by their co-stars.

But falling at the final hurdle, Cat, 25, was voted out and banished from the game in the final roundtable discussion of the series - before Alan, 49, was crowned winner.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Friday, the star admitted how she felt she failed to make it to the final three because she was the only woman left in the game.

Fans of the BBC One series had previously theorised that Cat being left as the only female would point towards her being a Traitor - as her co-stars would have predicted one of the female stars had been picked as a Traitor by host Claudia Winkleman

The BRIT Award-nominated singer said that had Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway not been banished, she may have stood a stronger chance.

She explained: 'In hindsight, I think if we didn’t banish Kate before, I probably would have had a chance as there would have been two women left.

'Then they could have been like, "Is it Cat, is it Kate?" Because Kate was gone, I was the last one left so then they were like: "It has to be her".'

During the show, there were no moments on screen that appeared to point to the Faithful stars, Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga, suspecting Cat as the last woman standing.

Instead, Nick, 45, and co-stars Joe, 35, and David, 55, presented arguments including Cat being close to other Faithfuls, and playing 'double bluff' moves.

During her appearance on BBC Breakfast, Cat also admitted she'd had little time to tune in for the episodes after releasing her new album, How To Be Human.

But it's clear the star has now watched the action back as she later took to social media with a video of her 'shouting at the TV' over one of her co-star's moves.

After Cat had been banished from the series, Alan, Nick and David then turned on former rugby star Joe as he was blindsided by his remaining Faithful stars.

In an earlier episode, Joe had attempted to get Nick and David on board with voting out Cat and Alan after admitting they trusted each other as Faithfuls.

But Nick went on to vote Joe out of the game after suspicions arose.

Reacting to the scenes, Cat shared a video of herself lip-synching to a viral moment from American's Next Top Model.

She captioned the clip: 'Me shouting at my TV watching Nick banish Joe. LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS!!!!!!'

It comes after Alan was announced as the winner of the first ever celebrity series of The Traitors on Thursday night after managing to fool the Faithful until the bitter end.

Comedian Alan was picked as what might be the show's most unlikely Traitor to date by Claudia, 53, in the dramatic first episode.

Joking he had a 'sweating problem' and laughing at every turn, it seemed unlikely that the star would be able to keep up appearances until the bitter end.

Especially given former rugby ace Joe set his sights on him and fellow Traitor, singer Cat Burns, in last weeks' episodes, and attempted to recruit the remaining Faithful, actor Nick and historian David, to turn on him.

But in the tense final episode, with Cat sent packing and Joe banished by his co-stars, Alan had his moment of victory, taking home the £87,000 prize pot for his chosen charity.

Celebrity Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
