Netflix has dropped the first five minutes of the new series of Stranger Things - and it has already left excited fans in floods of tears.

The fifth and final series of the hit sci-fi show is due to hit screens later this month, with teasers being littered online from the streaming giant ahead of its debut.

The latest first look showcases the opening five minutes of the series, which stars the likes of Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour and Winona Ryder, to give viewers a taste of what's to come.

The episode, which will drop on November 26, starts with a flashback of Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, in his garden hideout in the creepy alternative universe the Upside Down.

The youngster was kidnapped by dark forces in the show's first season, and was found by his mother Joyce, played by Winona, 54, and police chief Hopper, played by David, 50, in tense scenes.

Singing along to hit song Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash, the young boy is seen trying to keep himself safe from the monsters of the Upside Down.

The clip sees the frightened younger version of Will awoken by creaking and cracking noises outside the den, before one of the terrifying show villains the Demogorgon breaks in.

Shooting directly at the monster with a rifle, Will is seen running for his life through the Upside Down, climbing high into a tree to escape.

The monster soon catches up with him in the terrifying clip, before he falls unconscious on the ground below him and is dragged by the Demogorgon to main show villain Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower.

Vecna says over an unconscious Will: 'At long last, we can begin,' before appearing to poison the young boy by feeding dark matter into his mouth.

'You and I, we are going to do such beautiful things together, William, such beautiful things,' Vecna menacingly tells him, before the clip fades to black.

Fans flooded the comments section of the clip, posted on Netflix's YouTube account, admitting they were already 'in tears' and terrified over what's to come in the finale.

One penned: 'I'm already crying,' as another added: 'I've got CHILLS'.

A third wrote: 'IT'S ONLY THE FIRST 5 MINUTES AND THIS ALREADY LOOKS EXTREMELY EPIC,' as a fourth chimed in: 'I have a feeling I'm gonna be traumatized and depressed for months after watching this final season.'

'Just the first five mins and we already have a gun shoot, Vecna's entry, the jump scare from the trailer, and the reason Joyce found Will in that situation - Stranger Things the MASTERPIECE you are,' a fifth agreed.

It comes a week after Netflix dropped the final trailer for the new series.

The new clip gave a tense glimpse of Hawkins, Indiana, where the beloved characters are now trapped under a military lockdown, struggling to contain the chaos the monster Vecna unleashed at the end of season 4.

Set in the fall of 1987, more than a year after the previous season’s events, the fifth and final season finds Millie's Eleven in hiding and training for Vecna’s inevitable return.

Eleven is in 'training mode' and in a 'warrior state,' focused on protecting her friends, who she considers her chosen family, Brown said of her character in a statement.

Gaten Matarazzo described his character Dustin as struggling to 'keep all the pieces together' while dealing with Hawkins’ military lockdown and the fallout from Vecna’s return.

While Caleb McLaughlin noted that the stakes remain high, explaining that 'we haven't defeated Vecna and the problem is still there,' leaving the characters on edge as they try to keep hope alive.

Noah said Will’s return to Hawkins shows 'the effects of him being back in that realm,' with the group hitting the ground running this season.

Sadie Sink revealed that Max is still recovering from her near-death experience in Season 4, though there’s 'still a small glimmer of hope' for the character.

Finn Wolfhard described Mike as stepping back into 'leadership mode,' helping plan missions and staying focused on finding Vecna.

Series co-creator Ross Duffer told Netflix, 'I think what's unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4.

'We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.'

His brother and co-creator Matt Duffer added, ‘[The gang is] not experiencing normal life. Nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore.’

Executive producer Shawn Levy said, ‘The action is next level, the visual effects are next level, but I'm also happy to say that the emotional centre remains the same.

'And part of the magic of this show is that even as we evolve, even as the storytelling becomes more epic, it's always anchored in these characters that we love.’

It comes amid the Stranger Things press tour in the build up to the new series - which saw Hopper's David and Eleven star Millie, 21, put on a bizarrely over affectionate show at the premiere's afterparty despite her reportedly filing a harassment and bullying claim against him.

She appeared to remain firmly by David's side for most of the night, while her husband Jake Bongiovi was also pictured supporting her at the venue.

Hours earlier, Millie had baffled fans with her reaction when she came face-to-face with David at the season five premiere.

Despite reports that Millie had complained about David's behaviour on set, she looked incredibly pleased to see him on the red carpet as they posed for snaps.

The Daily Mail exclusively reported this month that the British actress filed 'pages and pages of accusations' against David before filming began on the sci-fi series' final season.

The revelation arrived amid the ongoing drama following David's separation from his estranged wife Lily Allen earlier this year.

Despite the unexpected harassment complaints, there wasn't any hint of bad blood between David and Millie when they beamed while posing together on the red carpet for the premiere, which was held at the iconic Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

The two had their arms around each other affectionately as they posed for the cameras, and both flashed wide smiles.

On Instagram, Netflix posted a video of the two arriving together at the premiere which showed them coming together for a hug in front of cheering fans outside the theater.

Stranger Things 5 premieres on Netflix the first four episodes on November 26, followed by three more on Christmas, with the finale airing on New Year’s Eve.
