A contestant on The Golden Bachelor has made a surprising claim about Barry 'Bear' Myrden.

Shamse, who caused a stir on Tuesday night's episode after she broke down in tears and ran off set following a wedding photoshoot, revealed what she really thinks about the Aussie show's leading man and his quest for love.

Speaking to New Idea, the 60-year-old revealed that Bear was a 'difficult' person to bond with - and that was the real reason she fled the romantic ceremony.

'He was hard to connect with,' the interior designer from Victoria admitted to the publication.

'Really, it was a tough person to connect with. I found it difficult to open him up.'

Shamse then made a shock admission about the Golden Bachelor and why he may not be able to find love on the show.

'I have to say, I felt that he still was in love with her,' she revealed, referring to his late wife Audrey who tragically passed away after a long cancer battle.

Bear, 61, gushed about his former partner in an emotional introduction during The Golden Bachelor's debut episode on Monday.

'Audrey was more than one in a million, she was one in six billion,' he candidly said.

'It's been 14 years since her passing. I know deep down no one can replace her, but with the boys' [sons Charlie, 21, Jack, 20, and Declan, 17] love and support, I know I can possibly find love again.'

Flash forward to Tuesday night's episode, Bear enjoyed a date with contestants Shamse, Elizete and Katrina, where they dressed up for a wedding-inspired photoshoot.

However, what began as a laugh ended in tears as Shamse was overcome with emotion and ran off set after the nuptial role play.

'I felt a bit guilty,' Shamse, an interior designer from Victoria, admitted as she posed alongside Bear while wearing a wedding gown and veil.

'My husband passed away recently and truly it is still very raw,' she shared.

She went on to reveal that she married her partner almost forty years prior and was still mourning his passing seventeen months ago.

The candid confession saw Shamse run off-camera where she was comforted by Golden Bachelor host Samantha Armytage.

'I'm grieving a lot of people so maybe that's what's happening right now,' Shamse told Samantha with tears in her eyes.

'I know about grief okay? I know how tough it can be. I know how tough it can be to look for real love. I really do,' Samantha assured her.

'And this is an enormous thing to do. And I think you just need to be gentle with yourself.'

The Golden Bachelor continues at 7:30pm on Monday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
