A group date has ended in tears on The Golden Bachelor Australia.

During Tuesday night's episode, Barry 'Bear' Myrden enjoyed a date with contestants Shamse, Elizete and Katrina, where they dressed up for a wedding-inspired photoshoot.

However, what began as a laugh soon saw one woman overcome with emotion and running off set after the nuptial role play.

'I felt a bit guilty,' Shamse, an interior designer from Victoria, admitted as she posed alongside Bear while wearing a wedding gown and veil.

'My husband passed away recently and truly it is still very raw,' she shared.

The 60-year-old went on to reveal that she married her partner almost forty years prior and was still mourning his passing seventeen months ago.

The candid confession saw Shamse run off-camera where she was comforted by Golden Bachelor host Samantha Armytage.

'I'm grieving a lot of people so maybe that's what's happening right now,' Shamse told Samantha with tears in her eyes.

'I know about grief okay? I know how tough it can be. I know how tough it can be to look for real love. I really do,' Samantha assured her.

'And this is an enormous thing to do. And I think you just need to be gentle with yourself.'

After much anticipation, Nine's The Golden Bachelor premiered on Monday and fans are already convinced they know who will win the series

The first episode went off with a bang as Bear quickly bonded with the oldest of the contestants, 66-year-old Jan, with sparks flying between the pair.

The Age Transformation Coach from NSW wowed Bear when she opened up to him about her past heartbreak.

And viewers tuning in at home are convinced that Jan is set to win the series due to her 'winner's edit' which saw her get by far the most airtime in episode one.

'I'm grieving a lot of people so maybe that's what's happening right now,' Shamse said with tears in her eyes

'Jan has the winner edit,' said one person on X, while another agreed, 'Jan is going all the way to the finale.'

'Jan... Game over for the rest of them!' said someone else, with one more saying, 'Watch Janette and Jan be the final two. Reality TV gold. The battle of the Jans.'

Jan quickly became a fan favourite, too, with many enjoying her classy presence on screen.

'How lovely is Jan,' said one person, with another writing, 'Jan looks absolutely amazing for 66'.

Someone else chimed in, 'Okay crying for a second time. Jan is too sweet.'

Of the 19 women Bear met before the cocktail party, it was Jan who seemed to strike an instant spark.

She kept things simple, arriving with a bottle of bubbles and a toast to 'taking risks'.

Bear was instantly smitten.

'I couldn't take my eyes off her,' he confessed to the camera.

'Jan is something very special. I think we fit each other quite well.'

The Golden Bachelor continues at 7:30pm on Monday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
