CHRISTOPHER STEVENS reviews last night's TV: Touching moment as Jade Goody's son Freddy remembers his late mum

That will liven up Call The Midwife

Former glamour model Kelly Brook has declared her ambition to be a nun.

'God, what a lovely life,' she mused while sitting in Brasilia's spectacular modernist cathedral, on Celebrity Race Across The World.

'I could just wear a habit, make cheese, crochet all day. No stress.'

No mention of riding a bicycle or delivering babies. Kelly has a shock coming if she ever takes holy orders — though not such a shock as Sisters Julienne and Monica Joan will get if she joins them and the midwives at Nonnatus House.

They probably think a topless nun is one who has forgotten to put her wimple on.

To boost their budget, Kelly and husband Jeremy had a go instead at running a shoeshine stall at a bus station. In a country where almost everyone wears sandals, that wasn't a money-spinner. Perhaps she should have tried crochet, or cheese.

Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills and his partner Sam cleaned a restaurant kitchen, while actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen led a dance display.

Kola was meant to be waiting on tables, not shaking a leg, but the temptation to get up on stage and boogie was too much for him. It's not the first time – he's gaining a reputation as a party animal.

In the most touching segment of the show, 19-year-old Freddy Brazier commemorated his mum, Jade Goody, on Mother's Day. That was also the anniversary of her death in 2009, when Freddy was just four years old.

'I don't really like showing my emotion,' he said. 'I just avoid it, I prefer to bottle it up.'

Strangely, his dry eyes made his sense of loss seem all the more honest, as he and dad Jeff watched the sun set over the Atlantic from a lookout point in the city of Salvador.

Keeping emotions private is not the fashion. But compared to Nancy Dell'Olio's tears on ITV's Good Morning Britain, grief-stricken for Sven-Goran Eriksson, who was her on-off fiance 20 years ago, Freddy was dignified and patently sincere.

'Maybe Mum's pushing us in the direction of where we need to go,' he hoped as they planned their route towards Sao Paulo. 'It's a lovely idea,' Jeff said dubiously.

He will have memories of Jade's notoriously bad sense of geography — she once asked on Big Brother, 'Where's East Angular? I thought that's abroad.'

Father and son ended up selling lemonade on Copacabana Beach in Rio...so their sense of direction really can't be faulted. They were first to the checkpoint, too.

After two weeks of travelling, the celebs are just halfway to the finish line in Chile on the other side of the Andes.

Each pair has a film crew with them, and the footage must run to hundreds of hours, before it is distilled to 60 minutes.

Race Across The World is becoming such a popular series that perhaps it will spawn a spinoff show of outtakes, like Strictly or I'm A Celebrity.

To my shame, I must admit — I'd watch that.
