Where is risky?

The Foreign Office (FO) decrees whether a destination is safe or not to visit. Country-specific details can be found on its much improved travel advice website, www.fco.gov.uk (or by calling 0870 606 0290).
The website lists countries and regions to which the FO advises against all travel, and travel 'unless on essential business'.
With tension in the Middle East mounting, Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have all been added to the latter's list in the past two weeks.
If war breaks out, further countries may become off-limits to holidaymakers. During the 1991 Gulf War, the FO added Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates to its no-go lists. At present, the FO is not advising against travel to these countries. But it is saying that you should be especially vigilant in their public places and, in the case of Egypt, Tunisia and the UAE, adds that regional tension might affect its travel advice, which you should therefore check daily.
The FO is not highlighting Greece or Cyprus as being especially risky, although in 1991 tour operators evacuated clients. Nor is the FO advising against travel to Turkey; south-east Turkey, which borders Iraq, was put off-limits in 1991.
