Waterland
(419 2900) Azartplein 2. Good cooking in a relaxed glasswalled space. Coquilles with steamed mussels and fish with basil oil and poached oysters.
Odessa (419 3010) Veemkade 259. Eat fusion inside a revamped Ukrainian fishing boat. Quail salad with watercress and Parma ham and baked fish with basil and couscous.
Jaap Hannis (418 9690) Borneosteiger 1. Venison with mashed celery and cranberry creme fraiche; tuna with coriander, basil and tomato confit.
De Oceaan (419 0020) RJH Fortuynplein 29, Borneo Sporenburg.Amid the residential blocks of Borneo, with a mainly fish menu delivering nods to Thai, Turkish, Japanese, Spanish and Dutch. Lively crowd, efficient service.
Gare de Est (463 0620) Cruquiusweg 9. Worth the short walk into the Borneo dockland. Menu changes daily. Fennel and Pernod soup with tapenade, and baked pears with almond crumble.
Voorbij Het Einde (419 1143)Sumatrakade 613. Steamed venison risotto and warm mango salad with ice cream. Dinner only.
Panama (311 8687)Oostelijke Handelskade. A perfect quayside view, plus a fuss-free fusion menu. Lamb with sweet potato and choy sum; cabbage risotto with peppers.
