Palm Express

The yellow Swiss postal service mountain buses are great for reaching remote villages, but also offer imaginative long-distance routes.
The Palm Express departs from the palm-lined shores of Lake Lugano, crosses into Italy to follow the shore of Lake Como before heading up towards the Swiss border again and zig-zagging up the Maloja Pass.
At the top, it emerges in the Upper Engadine, whose crisp air and sunny 'champagne climate' first made St Moritz - the destination - famous.
