Snorkelling that bog
Dust off your snorkel and head down to Llanwrtyd Wells in Powys, mid Wales, for the World Bog Snorkelling Championships this summer.
This exciting aquatic event is sponsored by eccentric ice-cream makers Ben and Jerry, and the 17th annual competition is held on the August Bank Holiday (26th August) this year.
Big crowds are once again expected and proceeds raised will be donated to charities and good causes in the area.
If you have never watched a bog being expertly snorkelled then pay close attention: competitors are required to complete two lengths of a 60-yard trench cut through the dense Waen Rhydd Peat bog in the quickest time possible, but are not allowed to use any conventional swimming strokes.
They are allowed the advantage of snorkels, masks and flippers in the dark brown sludge. Visibility however is nil and they are only allowed to pop their heads up four times.
Postponed last year due to Foot and Mouth disease, 2000's reigning champion Peter Owen now has the chance to beat his epic time of 1 minute and 52 seconds.
If you want to watch him then wrap up well and take an umbrella to combat the great Welsh summer and if you miss the action you can always read about it the next day.
In 2000 the championships were covered by major newspapers and radio stations around the world - including Finland's leading national newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat.
