Off the shelf: Aldi Travel promises good value at bargain prices
From today fans of low cost supermarket Aldi can add a beach break to their shopping list.
Alditravel.co.uk, the new holiday website from the budget German store, claims to offer summer holidays, ski trips and city breaks at bargain prices.
Following research among its online customers, the discount retailer found that as many of two thirds of potential holidaymakers regarded value for money as the most important factor when thinking about booking a trip.
Under the slogan 'A break you'll remember at a price you'll love' Aldi Travel is offering deals on 'hand-picked' hotels plus a search engine for flights, and flight and hotel packages. Special deals will be offered fortnightly and all holidays operate on a 'first come first served' basis.
Among the summer bargains available today are July breaks to Menorca from £45.50 per person per night on a half-board basis in a three-star hotel. Prices include one free child place. Elsewhere four-star B&B accommodation in Puerto Banus in Spain can be booked for £66 per per person per night again including a child place. The cheapest deal on the site's homepage is a three-star stay in Ibiza, on offer from just £34.50. Looking to win the confidence of travellers nervous about booking in the current climate, the brand is ABTA bonded and includes Supplier Failure Cover (SFC) which offers protection up to the value of £5,000 and includes airlines going bust.
