We have just come back from three nights in Cairo and a week on the Nile.
It is the ninth time we have been there, previous trips we have taken many friends, this time there were 20 in our party.
We went with Med Hotels when we got there we found out they would not accept either credit cards or travellers cheques only Egytptian pounds, this was OK by us BUT the rate of exchange they were charging was 12 EG pounds to the pound sterling.
The banks were 11.130 that meant, the £541 I had on trips out for my grandchildren, if I paid the 12 Eg pounds I would have actually paid £583.
I refused to pay, the guide then said Med Hotels would agree to 11.310, that still meant I paid an extra £8, so everyone beware, they were not always like this and this would not stop us going back, (but it won't be with Med Hotels).
Other people on the cruise did pay it so you can see what money they are making.
