Corbyn Head Hotel - Torquay
Last updated at 17:30 16 February 2005
I read your recent article on Torquay (Mail on Sunday, 03.09.06) with interest as our experience when we stayed there in August was completely at odds with the gist of your coverage.
Although we were tempted to stay at the Grand Hotel, we actually stayed at the Corbyn Head Hotel, attracted by the RAC's fine dining award.
However, we, and we were not alone in this matter, found the food to be very poor indeed and the toilet seat remained broken throughout our stay. We consider the cost of £712 for four nights to have been outrageous.
We have stayed in numerous hotels both in the UK and abroad; this is the first time that, upon departure, we were neither thanked for our custom, nor asked if we needed help with our bags.
It is important, if wishing to get the best out of Torquay, to choose your hotel with care. We wished we'd stayed at the Grand given our appalling experience at the Corbyn Head.
