Those looking for long-lasting love on holiday are in for a disappointment, a survey out today shows.
Almost nine in 10 holiday romances are over in a week, with flings lasting only three days on average, the survey from Sky Travel found.
Both men and women in the survey of more than 2,000 people admitted that a mix of sun, sand and sangria made it easier to fall in love.
Some women found tight trunks and thongs on men are a turn off. They also disliked chunky jewellery, open-toed sandals, knotted handkerchiefs on heads and string vests.
Male pet hates included underarm hair on women, ill-fitting bikinis and fake designer wear.
But almost 45% of men and women said they could find people attractive on holiday whom they would not fancy back home.
More than half of those surveyed had had a holiday romance and 66% of single people regarded a fling as an essential part of any holiday.
Pet hates for both sexes included: • Drunken young people on holiday; • Screaming kids and lost luggage; • Street hawkers and people blasting out music on the beach; • Passengers who applaud when the plane touches down.
