Boracay beach, Philippines

After catching a plane, a jeepney and then a small powered boat to the island of Boracay I was grateful that my journey justified the destination.
The boat slid onto the silky sand and I was greeted by the local hotel owner who told me, through his gleaming white smile, that 'what happens on Boracay stays on Boracay'.
It set the scene for the forthcoming joy I would experience. Just seven miles of pure golden luxury the beach welcomes scuba diving, snorkelling, and even short bicycle trips around the island for those who wish to trade the inviting waters for a more tropical rain forest scene.
At one end of the beach lies a small coffee bar that entices you to steal a stool and watch the sunset from your own personal haven.
At the other there lies a small restaurant serving all delicacies from raw fish to adventurous curries.
In the middle, local women offer manicures and pedicures. This beach weakens even the most beach-weary cynic.
Unexplored and untainted, it rivals most others and all under the umbrella of the beautiful Phillipino sun.
