Melbourne 'most liveable'

Melbourne has been voted 'most liveable city in the world' for the third time, in a survey by international newspaper, The Economist.
More than 100 cities worldwide were assessed by the London-based Economist Intelligence Unit on factors that included housing, education, recreational activities, culture, environment and climate.
Melbourne tied for the top 'des res' spot with Vienna and Vancouver. Other Australian cities also made a good showing - Perth came in fourth, and Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney came in sixth.
However, Melbourne was the only Australian city to score top marks for its weather, with the others losing points for humidity.
The challenges of extreme temperatures are something that Australians are all too aware of.
Parts of Australia are currently in the grip of a heatwave - with highs of up to 44 degrees centigrade.
In Brisbane alone 29 people are reported to have died as a result of the heat, with many more suffering from heatstroke and dehydration.
