Four arrested over Heathrow protests

Four people have been charged with aggravated trespass after protesters climbed a crane at Heathrow to protest against expansion at the airport.
The arrests were made yesterday at the terminal five construction site where a £3.7 billion expansion project is well under way. Proposals for a sixth terminal and another new runway are also anticipated.
Up to eight demonstrators, from the HANT group (Hounslow Against New Terminals), protested against 'aggressive airport expansion', claiming that any new developments will 'devastate' local communities.
'We are occupying this crane because if BAA gets its way, our community will pay with the loss of our homes, schools and health,' said one of the protestors.
Construction workers were moved to another part of the site while the demonstration took place.
