Ocean Village Cruise

Ocean Village used to be Arcadia still belongs to P&O but under the marketing guise as being for people who don't do cruises - ie. life onboard is informal.
We were impressed with the ship as Arcadia and wondered if we were now about to join a floating Butlins, but were proved wrong. The ship is large and clean (our inside cabin was beginning to show its age, but still spacious), food is good and plentiful, staff pleasant but some rather anti-P&O. /p>
I travelled with my two teenage daughters, who despite one of them sustaining an injury whilst on a ship excursion on only our third day, made the best of it, and loved being with other youngsters in the evening, where possible.
My big gripe, however, is that there was no introduction or social scene for adults like me who were not part of a couple - I didn't want to drink in the bars alone, so ended up at the cinema most nights or in the cabin with a brandy -pretty sad!
Since the majority of passengers onboard were families and we all know how many one-parent households there now are, this issue needs to be seriously addressed by P&O. /p>
On Arcadia, there was a good introduction session for single adults and I felt rather alone once the children had disappeared on their own activities. One can only spend so long reading a good book...
Overall, excellent value for money, but will keep you posted as to how P&O respond to complaint about my daughters accident.
