Britons may spend all year dreaming of expensive holidays abroad - but after they arrive most just want to come back home again, according to new research.
More than half of 1,000 holidaymakers quizzed by Direct Line said they longed for English food, bathrooms and tea. Top of the list of things missed was a comfortable bed, yearned for by almost 70 per cent.
Close behind was friends and family, missed so much by half of holidaymakers they call home at least twice. And one in three said they missed their pets.
But this longing is short-lived. Most say traffic jams on their return soon dampen their spirits while half find credit card bills the biggest headache of life at home.
