Archiduc bar, Brussels

Known as one of the coolest places to hang out in Brussels, the Archiduc tends to draw a rather haughty crowd, keen to prop up the bar, or piano, and look glamorously intellectual.
The night we went we were disappointed to find there was no live music, and the place was absolutely rammed, meaning we didn't get to fully appreciate the decor, which looked like very elegant art deco.
I'm sure if you go for an early evening drink (which in Brussels probably means around 10pm) when there is music playing its an engaging and enjoyable place.
But our Belgian host doesn't think much of it, complaining that it is only frequented by tourists. We ended up going to one of her favourite places instead: a great bar round the corner from the Archiduc.
Shame I can't remember its name really. Sorry.
