Some may wonder why, when faced with the fantastic culinary delights available in Bangkok, that you would want to go to an Italian Restaurant. But Caffe di Roma is good enough to tempt the most dedicated of Thai food fans away from the noodle stalls. It opened in 2000 and is tucked away in the centre of Patpong in the road that joins Patpong 1 and 2.
It is a large restaurant that is a welcome oasis from the surrounding hustle and bustle. However, the large windows also make it an ideal place to keep an eye on the action, whilst enjoying some truly authentic Italian fare.
There is a temperature controlled room which is home to a good selection of wines - they don't just show the list they take you to see the bottles!
They also have a good selection of fresh fish and seafood as well as good steaks cut and cooked to order. My favourite dish is the osso bucco served on a bed of pasta. The lobster pasta dish is also high on the list.
It really is a little piece of Italy worthy of a visit, and if nothing else if gives you a great excuse to explore Patpong!
