Just a short walk acros the canal from Leidseplein and the Marriott this is a bar that is well used by locals and visitors.
On most nights the owner, Herman, is on hand to extend a warm welcome and keep an eye on things.
There is the usual selection of beers, Amstel on tap is the main one, but it is the food that makes this an outstanding place (not to mention the very friendly atmosphere).
Excellent value fo money, all food is prepared fresh on the premises.
The menu is imaginative when compared to average fare in English pubs and the portions are a good size.
Although they do have fondue on the menu the place is very Dutch as opposed to Swiss.
Regular and special customers have plaques on the bar. Tell Herman that "Alex" (tumbledown) sent you. You wont be disappointed.
