If food is an important aspect of your vacation than you may want to visit somewhere other than Ireland, although some bright spots may be found.
Though not very different to the food found in England, some themed dinners can add entertainment which makes up for the lack of other things.
Bunratty Castle offers one escape for the evening with a medieval banquet. Held twice a night, guests are treated to singing, dancing, and even a little danger, as someone will be thrown in the dungeon.
The actual meal consisted of chicken, Irish brown bread, soup, and Mead, an alcoholic beverage known widely in Ireland, and even a little snuff (which I did not try!).
The use of any utensils was forbidden except for the dagger (knife), which was used to spear the food. Overall the evening was well worth it even if the food was nothing extraordinary. The entertainment made a nice distraction from the lack of flavor.
