The Golden Temple, Bangkok

Bangkok has to rate as one of the most polluted, noisy, hot crowded cities on this planet.
The main reason for this is the lack of any underground transportation system - apparently it's because the earth is too muddy to build tunnels.
Our brief stopover in Bangkok included a trip to the Golden Temple which is truly astounding.
The weather that day was unbearably hot and we spent more time indoors standing next to cold air-conditioning units!
The Thais are incredibly friendly and have a wonderful laid-back outlook which more than made up for the disappointment of Bangkok.
Outside of the capital, though, there is varied and beautiful countryside which is another story altogether...
