Deciding when to go
Last updated at 13:47 29 November 2001
There's a distinctly different feel to ski resorts depending on the time of the season you visit. Each month has its advantages and disadvantages.
Package prices vary enormously depending on the season too.
New Year is an expensive time to go, for obvious reasons, and half term in February - really the only time families with school-age children can ski together - is pricier still.
But time your ski trip till just a few days after New Year, and you will find that a couple of hundred pounds miraculously drops off the price.
As with all holidays, when demand is highest, so are the prices. If you ski outside the busiest times, then you will pay considerably less.
