We stayed in Groucho St Jude's, which has a classy restaurant and bar but only six rooms so booking well in advance is advised.
The decor is minimalist and stylish but very relaxing. At £115 a night it's not cheap, but who wants to cut corners on a romantic weekend?
If Groucho's is full, Malmaison Glasgow is another fashionable choice, with 72 rooms. This smart, modern hotel was the first in the Malmaison chain.
It is housed in a former church and has an excellent central location. A double room costs £115; suites start at £150.
Alternatively, the sumptuous One Devonshire Gardens in the West End includes rooms designed by Ralph Lauren and has a world-class restaurant. Double rooms are £170.
