Inside the ice rink that's now the LONGEST in the UK - and its 'epic' glow-up

The nation's longest ice rink is now open to visit following an epic transformation.

The newly redesigned attraction was unveiled this week amid the return of Skate Bournemouth, which runs from 13 November 2025 until 4 January 2026.

Stretching 70 metres in length, the ice rink's long rectangular layout now makes it the largest in the UK.

Set within the canopies of Bournemouth's Lower Gardens, visitors can glide across the spacious area surrounded by festive lights and music.

The upgraded site now features a separate skate-hire marquee with its own toilets and queueing area - offering visitors a stress-free experience as they get ready to hit the ice.

For spectators who prefer to be positioned a safe distance from the ice - or for those who take delight in watching skaters dramatically fall on their behinds - an expansive viewing platform has been set up alongside an outdoor terrace.

A new rink-side watering hole, Moguls Alpine Bar, will also serve a stunning menu of festive cocktails, spiced mulled wine, and warming hot chocolate.

Drawing thousands of visitors each year, Skate Bournemouth has become a key part of the town's festive offering.

As in previous years, the winter event will host student nights, experienced skater sessions and toddler time, making it the perfect outing with loved ones this Christmas.

A spokesperson for Skate Bournemouth told Bournemouth Echo: 'Skaters and spectators alike are in for a treat, with a separate skate-hire marquee featuring its own toilets and queuing area, meaning gearing up is smooth and stress-free.'

Tickets for Skate Bournemouth can be purchased in advance online, with discounts available for families, groups and students.

Lockers are available for personal belongings and skates are provided on site.
