The forward has struggled in the last few years of his career, failing to find form since he initially left the German club for £53million back in 2020. The move saw Werner earn £175,000-a-week, but struggle on the pitch as he failed to live up to expectations, scoring 23 times in 89 games between 2020 and 2022.
