Hull hit back to stun Leeds
Last updated at 10:36 08 September 2007
Hull produced the perfect response
to their derby humiliation by clinching
a play-off place. Hammered by Hull KR
last week, they hit back by winning at
Headingley to end Leeds' hopes of
topping the table.
The Rhinos had struck first when
Danny Washbrook, with a despairing
dive, accidentally turned Rob
Burrow's grubber kick into the path of
Carl Ablett to touch down. Kevin
Sinfield added the conversion.
It brought a sharp response from Hull.
First Wayne Godwin, the hooker with a
point to prove after being told he will
be released, weaved his way through
for a try. Then Matthew Head's deft
kick was caught by Gareth Raynor,
who dived over in the corner.
The
winger's second try, following a
drop-goal from Head, sealed victory.
