Michael Tebbutt has been forced
to call time on his race-riding
career after failing to recover
from a serious shoulder injury he
sustained in a fall from subsequent
Classic winner Cockney Rebel a year
ago.
The 42-year-old had been
optimistic of a return to the saddle
until the results of his latest scan
were revealed last week.
Tebbutt said: "The medical officer
Dr Turner has retired me after
discovering the existence of an old
injury alongside the current one. I
would need an operation to have a
chance of returning to race-riding and
even then there would no guarantee."
