Sheikh Mohammed's
Godolphin team have
extended their summer
shopping spree by
snapping up the top-class
two-year-old filly
Laureldean Gale.
Joint favourite at 7-1 for
next year's 1,000 Guineas,
she left the stables of
trainer Peter Chapple-
Hyam on Friday for the
short journey across
Newmarket to
Godolphin's base.
The $325,000 (£170,000)
spent on Laureldean Gale
as a yearling in America
looks ridiculously cheap
now following her sale.
She won stylishly on her
debut at Newmarket in
July before being pipped
by the highly rated French
filly Proviso at Deauville.
Godolphin's Simon Crisford
said: "She looks a
good filly, is lightly raced
and may well run in our
blue colours this season."
