An FA Community Shield clash with Chelsea isn't the only thing Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson can look forward to early next month as his one-time Derby hope Broomielaw is expected to return to racecourse action around that time.
The Ed Dunlop-trained colt, runner-up on his sole juvenile outing last term at Newmarket, shaped well when fourth on his reappearance at the Craven meeting there in April but was later found to have incurred an injury.
Dunlop said: "Broomielaw sustained a stress fracture at Newmarket but he has made a full recovery and should be back in two to three weeks' time. He's arguably the best maiden in training and we hope he can fulfil his potential."
Providing all goes well on his return, Broomielaw could go for the Group Two Great Voltigeur Stakes at York on August 21.
