Tana's timber return

Emma Lavelle is set to give Tana River a spin back over timber at Haydock on Saturday after a disappointing showing at Warwick last time.
The 11-year-old had been in fine form this season with victories at Wincanton
and then at Sandown, where he defeated subsequent Sky Bet Chase winner Simon.

Tana River was never travelling at Warwick last time so his handler has
suggested a run over hurdles will restore his morale.
"I'll run him in the Pertemps (Handicap Hurdle) Qualifier back over hurdles
as sometimes he needs a confidence booster," said Lavelle.
"He didn't enjoy it at Warwick last time but I think he is a horse with a lot
of ability, he's in good nick and I'd like to give him the option of the
Festival.
"He's not very big and on bottomless ground over hurdles, it is not so bad.
But over fences, it means they take a lot more jumping.
"They went off at a million miles an hour in that race (at Warwick) and he
likes to dominate - and there was no way he was going to be able to do that.
"He seems very well at home now and it would be great if he could go and win
a race like that."
