Lady Cecil gives green light to run Riposte in Irish Oaks
Lady Cecil is set to have her first Classic runner on Saturday, less than six weeks after gaining her trainer's licence.
Riposte, a stylish winner for her team at Royal Ascot, will be supplemented this week in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh for 40,000 euros.
Irish Oaks plan: Riposte and Tom Queally took the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot
The manner of the filly's work at Newmarket early yesterday was enough to convince Lady Cecil to send Riposte to Ireland.
Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, said: 'Riposte went nicely this morning and the Irish Oaks has been in our thoughts for her since Ascot.
'I will be talking to the prince just to confirm everything, but he is well aware of our plans to supplement Riposte for this race. Riposte was impressive at Ascot.'
For Lady Cecil the trip to Ireland comes soon after the death of her husband Sir Henry on June 11 after a long battle against cancer.
