Less than two years ago CASTLEMORRIS KING (Exeter, nap, 8.05) was eyeballing the likes of Pour Moi and Carlton House in the Epsom Derby.

There has, of course, been plenty of water flow under the bridge since that sunny afternoon back in June 2011, but the five-year-old has at least started to find some consistency at his new discipline judged on an impressive Taunton success last week.

I liked the way Brian Barr’s charge lengthened in the straight at Taunton after travelling strongly throughout the 15-runner contest and it will be disappointing if he can’t make a bold bid to supplement his initial hurdle victory.

Eight starts in the Irish point-to-point fields failed to see RED ADMIRABLE (Worcester, next best, 7.45) get his head in front.

However, a switch to Graeme McPherson has clearly been the catalyst to a dramatic improvement in the gelding’s form and he appeared to relish the decent ground last time to rout his rivals at Chepstow.

That win atoned for an unfortunate exit at the same venue the time before and he could well double up for Killian Moore.
