Cyclist Victoria Pendleton, who was left off the shortlist for this year's Sports Personality of the Year despite winning three gold medals at the World Track Championships, added World Track Cup gold in Australia yesterday.
Pendleton, 27, won Britain's third
gold medal of the three-day event
in Sydney.
She held off the challenge of
Jennie Reed and Natalia
Tsylinskaya to secure the win in the
keirin, a sprint event.
World keirin and time trial
champion Chris Hoy won bronze in
the men's sprint but British pair
Mark Cavendish and Bradley
Wiggins finished a disappointing
13th in the men's Madison final.
