Bonne nuit!

We're wrapping up our coverage for tonight. What a day, eh?

Thanks for joining us!

Team GB added seven more medals to their impressive tally and tomorrow is another chance for them to secure more.

Hopefully, there will be a gold rush of sorts!

We'll be back bright and early - so please do join us then.

Ugly scenes

It's been a febrile night and, as expected, it has blown up.

Around 20 or 30 people threw themselves into a melee on the pitch, with players and coaching staff from both sides flooding in.

I'm not sure what started but this has been coming, in all honesty.

Some of those involved then charged toward the tunnel.

Millot red card

Enzo Millot was sent off after the almighty scuffle following the final whistle. I'm assuming that is the end of his tournament.

A few minutes after the chaos, France's players returned to the pitch to celebrate with the crowd. They'll remember this one, that's for sure.

Full time - France 1-0 Argentina

It's all over! France are through and will play Egypt in the semi-finals.

Jean-Philippe Mateta's first-half goal proved enough for Les Blues despite Michael Olise's effort late on being chalked off by VAR.

And now, folks, it's absolutely kicked off. Big time.

20:50

No goal!

Would you believe it? France's goal has been ruled out.

Michael Olise had fired home via deflection but a foul from Maghnes Akliouche in the build-up saw the strike chalked off.

To pile on the insult, Akliouche was booked for the challenge.

France 2-0 Argentina

Les Blues have a second! Bordeaux has gone wild!

But wait, there's a VAR check...

Spotted in the stands

Look who was seen enjoying the swimming this evening!

Despite officially entering retirement after his mixed men's doubles defeat yesterday, Andy Murray is in no rush to head back to Scotland.

Instead, he will hang around Paris for at least a couple of days to watch some Olympics action with his family.

Updated medal table

Here's how the standings look after tonight's drama...

Marchand's golden glory

French swimming hero Leon Marchand, speaking to the BBC...

It has been unbelievable for me this week. I am enjoying every moment of it and this crowd was crazy. I was enjoying everything, it was so cool.

Shriever: Sometimes it can't go to plan

Team GB's Beth Shriever, speaking to the BBC...

I have loved every second being here. Sometimes it can't go to plan and that is life.
I am happy and healthy, I have got my friends and family - that is all that matters.

No medal for Shriever

What a shame. The door slammed shut in her face right from the off.

It was a horrible start for the Team GB star and the gold medal has gone to her biggest rival, Australia's Saya Sakakibara.

Shriever came home in last place.

Manon Veenstra of the Netherlands and Switzerland's Zoe Claessens took silver and bronze respectively.
