Seattle Seahawks will go up for sale after the Super Bowl in NFL bombshell... and could fetch a record price
The Seattle Seahawks will be put up for sale after the Super Bowl, according to a bombshell report just over a week before the NFL's big game.
A sale would finally end years of speculation surrounding the future of the team's ownership following the 2018 death of former owner Paul G. Allen.
According to ESPN, an NFL executive believes the franchise could be sold for as much as $7billion to $8billion.
According to Sportico, the Seahawks are valued at $6.59billion which is the 14th highest in the NFL. The most recent NFL sale, of the Washington Commanders in 2023, was for $6.05bn.
It's also claimed that talks around a potential sale have been taking place among owners and within the NFL for at least the past week.
The Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA have been owned by Allen's estate ever since the Microsoft co-founder's death from complications of non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2018.

Former owner Paul Allen left a directive to sell the franchise before his death from cancer
Allen's sister, Jody, has overseen the running of both franchises in her role as executor of the trust. But Allen left a directive to sell both teams and donate the proceeds to charity.
The Trail Blazers have a $4billion deal in place to be brought by a group of investors led by Tom Dundon, who owns the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes.
The bombshell news comes just nine days before the Super Bowl, where the Seahawks will take on the New England Patriots in Santa Clara.
A statement from the Paul G Allen Estate spokesman read: 'We don't comment on rumors or speculation, and the team is not for sale.
'We've already said that will change at some point per Paul's wishes, but I have no news to share. Our focus right now is winning the Super Bowl and completing the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers in the coming months. '
It has been a remarkable season for Mike Macdonald's team, who went 14-3 in the regular season before beating their NFC West rivals San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs.
Last week, Jody celebrated the Seahawks's NFC Championship win at the team's Lumen Field and gave a rare interview on live TV.
She said: 'I'm incredibly proud to be standing here today and accepting this on behalf of all the 12s here, all the 12s across the country and all the 12s across the globe.'
