Revealed: What 'seething' CBS really think of Tony Romo amid fan backlash at his erratic NFL analysis
It seems that with every passing week, Tony Romo is subjected to an intense social media backlash for how he calls NFL games.
And with increasing frequency, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback has been guilty of making some weird noises during certain plays.
Last week, as Josh Allen led the Buffalo Bills past the Jacksonville Jaguars in a thriller, it was especially notable and overall, since Tom Brady entered the booth with Fox, analysts are receiving far more scrutiny and attention.
But according to a report in Front Office Sports on Saturday, CBS bosses are not only standing by Romo, they also consider the backlash against him part of 'a slanted media narrative' that they are 'seething' at.
The report says that Romo has heard nothing from CBS bosses in New York about the level of his work, nor from CBS president David Berson.
An unnamed source was also quoted as saying the criticism against him was 'much ado about nothing'.

But whether CBS bosses like it or not, Romo is becoming more of a talking point and with people who hold greater influence than fans on social media.
Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, said in the week that Romo was 'nonsensical' while interviewing rival Fox analyst Greg Olsen.
'Your stock keeps going up,' Portnoy told Olsen. 'There's a guy on the other network, he looks like he's on drugs or something when he's calling games. Your stock is going up. Congrats for that.
'Romo, I mean, come on, what was he talking about? He started that game up with the most nonsensical rant I've ever heard.'
The respected NFL podcast 'Heed the Call' also said Romo's analysis was bizarre for that Bills game, especially when Brady shone in the following game on Fox between Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.
Romo has a contract with CBS through to 2030 worth an overall total of $180million, so it's unlikely he is going to go anywhere else in the near future.
Romo briefly addressed the backlash against him during an appearance in the week on 'Schein on Sports'.
'We had a bunch of guys sick, we were just grinding through it. You’re not going to miss a playoff game,' he said. 'It's too much fun.
Barstool Sports chief Dave Portnoy slammed Romo for his call of the Bills-Jaguars game
'I think anytime you’re in a position like we are, we’re on the air for three-and-a-half hours. You’re always trying to do the best you can and everything.
'There’s always going to be moments where always all this great stuff, and then other stuff. It’s just part of being in your position. You just go back to work, and you do a great job.
'I mean, that’s the fun part about this. It’s sports, and it makes it fun. You’re just trying to make everyone enjoy the show, and learn a little bit and have a great time.'
