Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen blasts Marlins after third-out mix up: 'You can get somebody killed that way!'

Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen blasted the Marlins on Wednesday night after one of their players failed to keep track of the outs - and let a potentially dangerous throw fly in the process.

In the bottom of the third inning, Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez grounded out with two outs and a runner on first, ending the inning as Miami forced an out at second base.

But Marlins second baseman Otto Lopez apparently didn't realize his team had reached three outs after catching a throw from teammate Emmanuel Rivera, as he fired the ball towards first base.

The ball sailed over the head of first baseman Jake Burger, but Cohen was nonetheless upset by the play.

'The inning is over. Nobody on the field seems to know how many out there are. I mean, come on,' he said on SNY.

'5-4 [third base to second base] force ends the inning. You can get somebody killed that way,' Cohen said.

Lopez appeared to realize his mistake as he jogged off the field, letting out an 'Oh' as he headed back to the dugout.

The Mets would go on to win the game 10-4 at home, bringing them to 29-37 on the season.

Alvarez, who grounded out on the play that upset Cohen, chipped in with two RBI in the performance.

The NL East rivals will play again on Thursday before the Mets host the Padres for a three-game series.
