Sophie Gustafson claimed
her 13th European Tour title in
style with a comfortable victory
in the De Vere Ladies' Scottish
Open at the Carrick at Loch
Lomond yesterday.
The Swede, 33, claimed the
£20,000 prize by five shots and
was the only player to finish
under par in a tournament
blighted by bad weather.
Gustafson birdied the last for
a 71 and a three-under-par
total. She was ahead of a group
of four in second place that
included three English players.
Yorkshire's Rebecca Hudson
shot a course-record 67, Kent's
Danny Masters had a 68 and
Lancashire's Kirsty Taylor 71.
Glasgow's Janice Moodie was
the top Scot in a tie for sixth
place and seven shots behind
Gustafson after a 71.
Fifteen-year-old Scot Carly
Booth was the leading amateur
and joint 12th after a 72, and
compatriot Sally Watson, 16,
was just a shot back after a 76.
"This has been a terrific event
for Scotland," said Moodie.
