Less than a week after Donald Trump complained online about his lack of credit for creating 'the Greatest Economy in the History of our Country,' the President's favorite golfer has stepped up to offer exactly that.

'It's the greatest economy we ever had,' LIV golf star Bryson DeChameau told an audience during an impromptu speech at a White House Christmas celebration on Sunday.

Trump has faced criticism about rising costs around the country during his second term and a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research claims just 31 percent of American adults approve of his handling of the economy.

Inflation currently sits at 3 percent, which is exactly where it was when Trump took office amid widespread criticism of predecessor Joe Biden's economy. Meanwhile, Biden's strong job numbers have given way to rising unemployment – up to 4.4 percent during Trump's second term.

DeChambeau, who signed a reported four-year and $125 million deal to defect from the PGA to Saudi-backed LIV Golf in 2022, still sees Trump's economy as the strongest of his lifetime.

'I did not know I was going to be coming up here today,' DeChambeau said after being called on stage by Trump. 'What the President has done in this term has been incredible.

'It's the greatest economy we ever had and just to serve on the President's Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition has been such an honor.'

The 32-year-old Californian then looked over at First Lady Melania Trump before making an awkward transition.

'The First Lady, you look so beautiful by the way… and I'll say cheers to the greatest economy we've had in a long, long time,' he said.

Naturally, DeChambeau's comments weren't well received by those making less than seven figures annually.

'You ever notice it's only millionaires and billionaires telling you how great the economy is doing the prices for just about everything have risen since January,' one critic wrote online.

'Its (sic) so funny that moment to moment they change from it being a bad economy that's (sic) bidens (sic) fault, to it being the best economy in the world that Trump created,' another added.

Others poked fun at DeChambeau's credentials as an economist.

'When I want expert analysis of job growth/loss, inflation, investment trends, interest rates, tax policy, international trade, debt, deficit spending and how all those things collectively influence the largest most complex economy in the world, I always go to Bryson DeChambeau,' one critic remarked.

The conversation at the White House did move on from the economy to a more familiar topic for the two-time US Open winner: Trump's golf game.

'His iron play is actually probably better than mine right now,' DeChambeau said. 'His putting has improved significantly lately. He's a great golfer, better human being, and we're all lucky to have him as President.'
