Rangers miss out on Israeli international Hemed who opts for switch to Mallorca
Rangers have failed in their bid to sign Israel international Tomer Hemed, according to the player's agent.
New Gers boss Ally McCoist revealed this week that the Scottish champions had offered the 24-year-old striker a contract after holding discussions with him.
McCoist had hoped to confirm Hemed, the top scorer in the Israeli league last season, as his first signing since taking charge.
Eyes on the prize: Hemed has declined the offer from Rangers
However, the player's agent Max Meltzer announced he had instead opted to join Spanish club Real Mallorca.
Meltzer said: 'Rangers are a fantastic club and Tomer knows that so it was a very difficult decision for him.
'However, in the end, he decided to pursue the opportunity presented to him from Spain.'
With Hemed opting out of a deal, Rangers could now turn their attention to Crystal Palace's Neil Danns after McCoist admitted he was 'very keen' to sign the midfielder.
'As regards Neil, our head of football administration, Andrew Dickson, has spoken to his representative and we are keen, very keen,' McCoist told the club's website.
'That's one we are pursuing further as well. He's a player we are keen on.'
