This World Twenty20 has been three weeks of great fun. I often give the ICC stick but not this time. It was brilliantly organised - apart from the opening ceremony!

He's made his mark

Tillekeratne Dilshan was a worthy player of the tournament, despite yesterday's failure. He has come a long way from the nervy batsman I remember in a warm-up game against us when I toured Sri Lanka.

Brilliant show

Well done England's women. The standards impressed me and they thoroughly deserved to win the final. I coach the girls team at my children's school now and England set a great example.

Monty's the man

My gut feeling, ahead of today's team announcements, is that Monty Panesar should get the nod ahead of Adil Rashid if England play two spinners against Australia in Cardiff.

Tough for Bell

Ian Bell will be back at some stage to have a great England career but should still be asked 'what happened?' after getting two starts for Warwickshire against Durham without going on to big scores.

Mike Hussey has said he is 'mentally washed' after so much cricket and contemplated semi-retirement. We must not drive the best players away with our schedules.

But what the ICC must do now is reduce the amount of cricket. West Indies start a one-day series against India as soon as Friday in Jamaica. It's madness.
