David Nalbandian
went out of the men's
singles yesterday then
criticised Wimbledon
organisers for
refusing to allow play
on Sunday's rest day.
Nalbandian lost 6-2,
7-5, 6-0 to Marcos
Baghdatis in only an
hour and 41 minutes
as the No 10 seed from
Cyprus, a semi-finalist
last year, booked his
place in the last 16.

But the Argentine
No 23 seed was furious
at having to play in a
match disrupted by
showers — and did not
feel in the mood to
hold back when asked
his views on having
Sunday off.
"I don't agree with it. I mean, nobody
agrees," he said. "The
bottom half of the
draw have to play
today, tomorrow and
the day after
tomorrow, so why?
Because nobody who
has the reason for
that decision has to
play three days in a
row, that's why. They
don't care about us.
It's very tough, very
tough."
Wimbledon
tournament referee
Andrew Jarrett had
earlier defended the
decision not to
arrange the fourth
'People's Sunday' in
the Championships'
history.
"On Saturday morning
we were absolutely
where we wanted to
be from a singles
point of view," said
Jarrett. "Saturday
itself was bad but it
takes a long time to
set up a middle
Sunday here. I think
we'd have needed to
be in substantially
worse shape to have
gone for a middle
Sunday."
Tomas Berdych
wrapped up a
third-round win over
South Korean Hyung-Taik Lee. The seventh-seeded
Czech had
established a 6-4, 2-3
lead on Saturday and
clinched the match
6-4, 7-6, 7-6.
